The Ark is a Christian church with roots in the Lewiston area that go back several years. Years ago there was an Ark restaurant where many community programs happened, such as healthy cooking classes. A group of believers worshiped there on Saturday as well. Once COVID hit the restaurant had to shut down and was sold. But from the ashes of that God brought together a group of dedicated believers with a desire to plant a church.
We began worshiping together December of 2023. We started by renting a room at the Lewiston Armory, where we worshiped in the senior center room. God has been blessing us every step of the way, and now we have our own space located on the second floor of 110 Canal St.
The most important thing to know about us is that we love Jesus! We have a very diverse congregation that is truly a family. So if you are looking for a loving family to join, we would love to make ours bigger. We strive to live out John 13: 34-35 which says “So now I am giving you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved you, you should love each other. Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples.”
The name “Seventh-day” refers to the biblical Sabbath, Saturday, ordained by God at Creation (which is why we meet on Saturday). Adventist” refers to the return, or second advent, of Jesus Christ. We believe Jesus is coming back someday and we want to tell everyone the good news!
We are a small church but have big dreams to serve God in everything we do. We are always looking for new ways to serve our community, and there is always more of God’s work to be done. Please come and visit us, we would love to meet you.
